Hello Marquette Little League Families!
Our start of our 2023 Season is just right around the corner (or a snowbank in the UP!)
We have received many emails and messages regarding practices and game times so we wanted to give everyone a very long update!
At a time when children have many sports & activities to choose from, we are thrilled that such a large number of girls and boys between the ages of 4-14 have chosen to play softball or baseball with Marquette Little League.
Our winter training has concluded & we will begin our spring training soon! Thank you to all the players, parents, trainers, coaches and volunteers who made our winter training a huge success!
We will not be practicing over spring break & encourage all players to enjoy the time off with your families.
Our Board wanted to take the opportunity to inform you about some upcoming dates and expectations to our season!
All outdoor practices and game schedules are subject to the weather and the City of Marquette giving us permission to be on the fields!
In order for this to happen: the snow has to melt, frost has to go, infields have to thoroughly dry, and the grass has to start to green up before the city will allow us to practice on the fields!
Dome time is scheduled upon available times
We have scheduled every time that is available that fits the use of our large growing league
Lakeview Arena only has the small dry floor available this year and it’s not cost effective to hold practice there for our league. (approx $1,000 to practice all teams for one hour)
Our plan will be to continue to utilize Vandenboom Gym until we can get outside!
Minors – Juniors Division: Girls and Boys
Our goal is to begin outdoor practices for Minors – Juniors Division by May 1st (or as soon as possible)
& begin games the week of May 15th
Practice and game schedules will be as follows:
Minors Girls and Boys:
Monday & Wednesday
(with additional Friday, Saturday & Sunday practices per coaches’ schedule)
Majors Girls and Boys:
Tuesday & Thursday
(with additional Friday, Saturday & Sunday practices per coaches’ schedule)
Juniors Division:
Games and practices will be determined by final enrollment and team selection
Expect to play and practice Monday – Friday
(Additional dates and times will be posted after registration ends and the draft occurs)
Player Draft day is April 13th from 4:00 pm -7:00 p.m at the Superior Dome
Times will be assigned closer to the date
(Juniors will begin at 4:00 pm)
All Minors – Juniors Division players MUST attend the draft in order to be selected for a team!
Coaches Pitch and Tee Ball
We will begin this season as soon as we can with an expected date somewhere between May 15th and
the end of May!
Everything depends on the weather and getting the older groups started. The older
groups have playing requirements they must meet to be eligible for All-Star District/International Little League tournaments in early July.
Coaches Pitch and T-Ball levels do not participate in these tournaments.
We expect games for Coaches Pitch and Tee Ball to start in early June
Games and practices are currently scheduled as:
T-Ball: Monday & Wednesday
Coaches Pitch: Tuesday & Thursday
Coaches Pitch will participate in a draft/evaluation and teams will be picked on this day
The draft/evaluation will be held outside once we can get out onto the fields!
Start date, practice times, and season will depend on volunteers who have signed up.
Marquette Little League is a parent run volunteer program.
Currently, there aren’t enough coaches to support these two programs. If you have ever considered coaching, now is your chance! No experience is needed! We will teach/train coaches & provide support!
Lack of volunteers will severely limit our ability to run a quality program in these divisions

4/29-4/30: Minors – Juniors Divisions team practices @ Vandenboom
Tee Ball open gym & Coaches Pitch

5/6-5/7 Vandenboom team training (if necessary)
5/13-5/14 Vandenboom team training (if necessary)
5/15 Proposed start to Minors – Juniors Divisions Game Play
*No games or practices on Memorial Day Weekend – May 26th – May 29th
Month of June:
Coaches Pitch and Tee Ball games begin
Marquette County play begins for Minors – Juniors Divisions
Month of July:
All-Star District & State Tournaments - Minors – Juniors Divisions
Second round of league play Minors – Juniors Divisions League playoffs.
Tee Ball and coaches pitch continued play
All dates and times are tentative upon scheduling and coaches’ conflicts!
As we approach opening day we will communicate with more details on times and fields
